Senior Security Engineer

Nelo is a leading consumer fintech and e-commerce platform in Mexico, building a modern alternative to credit cards to increase buying power in Latin America.

Responsibilities

• Build secure-by-default systems and design security guardrails across cloud infrastructure
• Improve IAM, secrets management, endpoint management, and access controls
• Harden AWS infrastructure using Terraform and policy-as-code
• Increase observability for security-relevant events and anomalies
• Write code, configs, and tooling to automate security controls
• Own penetration tests and the bug bounty program end-to-end
• Drive SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 certifications through automated evidence collection
• Review designs and PRs with a security-first lens

Requirements

• Engineering background with substantial experience in production security environments
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud security fundamentals, ideally on AWS
• Proficiency building and modifying infrastructure with Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling
• Ability to ship code and own technical outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience taking a company through SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable certifications
• Experience running bug bounty programs or managing external pentests
• Deep knowledge of AWS security primitives (GuardDuty, CloudTrail, IAM, VPC, KMS)
• Proficiency using agentic coding tools like Claude Code in daily workflows
