Senior Scientist, Sun Care Formulations

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and reformulation of sun care products from concept through commercialization.
• Drive products from bench to scale-up by designing scientific studies and partnering with operations and external manufacturing teams.
• Mitigate technical risk by leading Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for formulations and scale-up processes.
• Apply statistical experimental design (DOE) to optimize formulations and manufacturing processes.
• Manage multiple complex projects and timelines independently to meet business objectives.
• Serve as a technical partner to Marketing, Consumer Insights, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Document and interpret experimental data to ensure high-quality, defensible scientific outcomes.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in skin care or emulsion formulation.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Deep technical expertise in sun care, including O/W and W/O emulsions, sprays, gels, and sticks.
• Proven experience developing and launching OTC or regulated products.
• Experience working in GMP environments and supporting technical transfer to external manufacturers.
• Advanced competency in multivariate data analysis and rheological characterization.
• Ability to travel to manufacturing sites, vendors, and industry meetings.
