Senior Scientist, Molecular Biology

Responsibilities

• Lead the Molecular Biology function within the Mammalian Expression team, providing scientific direction for high-throughput expression construct and cassette generation.
• Oversee the design and delivery of complex plasmid and expression constructs using technologies such as Gibson, Golden Gate, and In-Fusion cloning.
• Develop and enhance high-throughput platforms by integrating robotic systems and automation to increase capacity and reduce cycle times.
• Direct automated sequence verification workflows and manage external CRO activities to ensure high-quality data and compliance.
• Collaborate with Research Informatics to establish standardized, compliant workflows for nucleic acid data registration and digital connectivity.
• Supervise the Protein Therapeutics DNA repository to maintain a scalable and well-governed plasmid inventory.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering an inclusive and empowering work environment.

Requirements

• BS with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR MS with 6+ years of experience, OR PhD/PharmD with 0+ years of experience.
• Deep expertise in molecular cloning and DNA assembly (e.g., Gibson, Golden Gate, In-Fusion).
• Proven experience in high-throughput workflow optimization and scaling molecular biology processes.
• Hands-on experience with automation and robotics platforms in a laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in Geneious Prime and other bioinformatics tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology, biochemical engineering, or a related discipline with postdoctoral training and 3+ years of industry experience.
• Experience in DNA repository management and plasmid inventory systems.
• Experience managing external CRO partners to support project timelines and data delivery.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Python or Excel macros.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing both scientists and complex workflows.
