Senior Scientist, IVD Product Development

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and validate automated high-throughput NGS assays for commercial CLIA laboratories
• Manage technical projects, timelines, and deliverables for NGS-based assays
• Design and execute complex experiments and perform data analysis using JMP, R, or Excel
• Collaborate with assay development scientists on reagent, equipment, and quality metrics
• Coordinate with automation engineering, bioinformatics, and quality assurance teams
• Write project protocols, reports, and SOPs
• Lead verification activities and identify continuous improvement opportunities for production workflows
• Mentor and manage junior employees and Research Associates

Requirements

• BA/BS with 8+ years experience, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in assay development and automation
• Proven track record in development and validation of automated protocols for CLIA labs
• Experience with IVD product development and design controls
• Strong understanding of nucleic acid extraction, PCR, NGS library preparation, and hybrid capture
• Hands-on experience with reagent preparation and quality control for NGS assays
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting high-throughput automated assays using liquid handler robots
• Proficiency in data analysis with JMP

Preferred Qualifications

• Coding skills in Python or R
• Liquid handler programming experience
• Experience designing stability, guard banding, and reproducibility studies
