About the role
Responsibilities
- Execute research projects to decipher the relationship between molecular architecture and application properties of polymers and surfactants.
- Develop core competencies in the rheology of viscoelastic systems, including sustainable biobased and biodegradable polymers.
- Characterize polymer/surfactant solution structure and develop computational models to describe rheological behavior.
- Define technical scopes and targets for R&D experiments and translate them into optimal experimental programs.
- Manage technology transfers to business/market labs and provide technical support to internal and external customers.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records in ELN and ensure compliance with all company safety policies.
- Mentor, manage, or supervise junior researchers, scientists, or student interns.
- Contribute to technical IP support, patents, and the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related multidisciplinary field (e.g., polymer science, chemical engineering, or analytical sciences).
- In-depth knowledge and specialized experience in the rheology of complex fluids.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as both a team member and a project leader.
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications or patents in relevant scientific fields.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring research team members or students.
- Ability to perform physical laboratory tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in computational modeling of rheology and the application of data science to complex systems.
- Proficiency in advanced characterization techniques such as SAXS, WAXS, Diffraction, DLS, SLS, SANS, and microscopy.
