Senior Scientist, Early Formulation Science and Drug Delivery, Drug Product Design

Responsibilities

• Evaluate physicochemical properties of small molecule drug candidates to inform formulation strategy and developability risk assessments
• Design and develop traditional and enabled formulations for preclinical studies
• Execute and interpret polymorph and salt screens related to stability, manufacturability, and bio-performance
• Apply thermodynamic and kinetic principles to study drug dissolution, precipitation, and solid-state stability
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics, and Clinical Pharmacology to influence candidate selection
• Conduct novel research and present findings through internal and external presentations or publications

Requirements

• PhD with 0-3 years of post-doctoral experience, MS with 7+ years of experience, or BS with 8+ years of experience
• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Physics, Physical Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, or Pharmaceutical Sciences
• Proven experience working both independently and collaboratively in a laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and conducting hypothesis-driven laboratory experiments
• Ability to integrate experimental data into mathematical models to understand complex materials
• Experience with pharmacokinetic modeling and simulations using Gastroplus or similar software
• Knowledge of formulation design for preclinical studies and drug product design criteria for Phase 1 clinical trials
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
