Senior Scientist, Drug Product Development

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on pre-clinical formulation development including identifying vehicles, excipients, and new technologies for poorly water-soluble compounds
• Execute and oversee pre-formulation activities including characterization of physicochemical and solid-state properties using HPLC/UPLC, DSC, and XRPD
• Work with external CDMOs to develop early-stage drug products and oversee production of clinical trial material
• Manage formulation development and process optimization for small molecule solid oral dosage forms, including modified-release products
• Support relevant CMC sections for regulatory filings such as INDs and NDAs
• Proactively identify project risks and prepare mitigation and contingency plans

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience, or B.S./M.S. with 10+ years of industrial experience
• Experience in formulation development and process optimization for small molecule solid oral dosage forms
• Proficiency with instrumental analysis including HPLC/UPLC, DSC, and XRPD
• Experience working with external CDMOs
• Ability to work 3 to 5 days a week in the lab in South San Francisco, CA
