About the role

Responsibilities

  • Deliver computational research projects with high autonomy, including project design, implementation, interpretation, and reporting results to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers to establish infrastructure for processing and storing large-scale genomics datasets
  • Integrate multiple NGS data types into coherent analyses, managing the pipeline from raw input files to variant calls and higher-level insights
  • Develop probabilistic and Bayesian models that rigorously incorporate priors, uncertainty, and missing data to inform scientific decision-making
  • Interact with external advisors to leverage expert input and build high-quality scientific relationships

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in biology, statistics, genetics, computational biology, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant post-academic or industry experience with an excellent research track record
  • Deep expertise in analyzing genomics data derived from Illumina sequencing platforms
  • Proven experience processing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data end-to-end (alignment, QC, and variant calling)
  • Experience integrating and jointly analyzing multi-modal sequencing datasets, specifically DNA and RNA
  • Expertise in statistical genetics, including computing and adapting polygenic risk scores
  • Proficiency in building probabilistic statistical models that account for uncertainty and incomplete observations
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, ambiguous startup environment with high ownership

About the Company
