Senior Scientist

Responsibilities

• Lead technical programs related to product development and customer support within a team environment
• Develop and implement new product formulations across various coating technologies and General Industrial Metal markets
• Manage the full product lifecycle from initial customer definition to manufacturing scale-up and on-site performance optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Product Management, IT, and Sales
• Partner with R&D, Sales, and Marketing to propose new projects targeting growth in traditional and adjacent markets
• Apply statistical methods and design of experiment (DOE) techniques to investigate problems and analyze results
• Organize objectives, set milestones, and deliver results against aggressive timelines

Requirements

• MS/PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Coatings preferred (candidates in other science fields with applicable formulation experience will be considered)
• Minimum of 10 years of practical R&D experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in coatings formulation
• Proficiency in design of experiment (DOE) techniques
• Ability to develop and implement coating characterization testing methods and interpret instrumentation results
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to travel up to 20%, including possible international travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of chemical manufacturing as it relates to coatings, resins, or polymers
• Knowledge of color/dispersion chemistry, resin chemistry, pre-treatments, and corrosion protection
