Senior Scientist, Analytical Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end analytical strategy for GC-MS-based programs, including method design and validation
• Define and evolve sample preparation methodologies for headspace, liquid-phase, and solid-phase extraction
• Maintain and improve high-throughput analytical pipelines for machine learning compatibility
• Partner with Platform and ML teams to structure and leverage analytical data computationally
• Mentor junior and mid-level scientists and establish best practices
• Write, edit, and audit analytical and experimental protocols

Requirements

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Flavor/Fragrance Chemistry, or related field with 5+ years post-degree experience
• Deep expertise in GC-MS method development and validation
• Familiarity with MassHunter Qual/Quant or comparable platforms
• Advanced proficiency in sample preparation (LLE, SPE, headspace, SPME)
• Proven ability to set technical direction and operate with high autonomy
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in the flavor or fragrance industry
• Proficiency in Python for analytical data processing or automation
• Experience with analytical data infrastructure for ML models
• Familiarity with chemometrics or multivariate data analysis
• Experience with GC-Olfactometry and Gerstel robotic systems
