Senior Rust Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and own core backend architecture using async-first Rust
• Define service boundaries, data ownership, and long-term evolution strategies
• Architect real-time systems including social feeds, messaging, and event-driven workflows
• Design scalable APIs (REST/GraphQL) for mobile and web clients
• Model and operate PostgreSQL as a high-performance source of truth
• Make critical architectural tradeoffs regarding consistency, latency, and scalability
• Lead the development of foundational infrastructure for video delivery and social graphs

Requirements

• 7–12 years of professional backend engineering experience
• 4+ years of experience using Rust in production environments
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL data modeling and performance optimization
• Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
• Strong ability to communicate architectural decisions and technical tradeoffs
• Experience with async Rust frameworks such as Actix, Axum, Tokio, or Rocket

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with WebAssembly, gRPC, or GraphQL
• Background in high-throughput media or video delivery systems
• Experience with real-time streaming, high-write, or high-fanout workloads
• Knowledge of tokenomics, crypto-adjacent systems, or blockchain integration
• Experience working in early-stage startups or high-growth environments
