About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute system identification experiments for actuators, mechanisms, and full robot subsystems
  • Own kinematic calibration workflows including DH parameter identification and tool-center-point calibration
  • Build automated calibration and sys-id tooling for production hardware
  • Lead design and implementation of robot behaviors and task-level intelligence
  • Drive improvements in autonomy quality using data and model validation
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering on software-hardware integration
  • Lead technical design reviews and mentor engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in production robotics systems
  • Strong foundation in dynamics, controls, and system identification
  • Experience characterizing electromechanical systems like motors and articulated arms
  • Proficiency in Rust, Python, or C++
  • Experience integrating software with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems
  • Willingness to support production operations through an on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate-level research in system identification or adaptive control
  • Experience with nonlinear system identification (EKF, particle filters)
  • Familiarity with physics simulators like MuJoCo, Drake, or Isaac Sim
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems or RTOS
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2
  • Experience building data pipelines for robot telemetry
