Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deploy production-grade 3D SLAM and localization systems fusing data from LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, IMUs, and wheel encoders
  • Build and maintain state estimation pipelines using Kalman Filters or Factor Graph backends
  • Develop real-time 3D navigation algorithms including costmap generation and path planners
  • Implement sensor calibration pipelines for multi-sensor rigs
  • Design evaluation and regression frameworks including logging, metrics, and replay tooling
  • Collaborate with perception, controls, and hardware teams to integrate the navigation stack
  • Troubleshoot field failures and perform root cause analysis
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmap planning

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in robotics autonomy (SLAM, localization, or state estimation)
  • Proven track record of deploying navigation or SLAM systems on real autonomous platforms
  • Deep command of probabilistic robotics, Bayesian filtering, and non-linear optimization
  • Hands-on experience with 3D SLAM modalities (LiDAR SLAM, VSLAM, or VIO)
  • Proficiency in C++ (C++14/17 or newer)
  • Experience with optimization libraries like GTSAM, Ceres Solver, or g2o
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2 and standard robotics tooling

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with learning-based or hybrid approaches to localization
  • Background in semantic SLAM or scene understanding
  • Experience with GPU acceleration (CUDA)
  • GNSS/RTK fusion experience
  • Contributions to open-source SLAM or navigation frameworks
