Responsibilities
- Architect algorithms for high-DOF arm motion in dynamic environments using constrained motion planners
- Solve the "Whole Body" control problem by coordinating mobile bases and manipulator arms
- Develop low-level control strategies including impedance/admittance controllers for safe physical interaction
- Build the mathematical engine for remote manipulation and teleoperation capabilities
- Design control mapping and assistance layers to translate human intent into safe robot motions
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, OR an M.S. degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience
- Deep understanding of rigid body kinematics, dynamics, and 3D geometry
- Proficiency in linear algebra and Lie theory
- Expertise in production-grade, real-time modern C++ (C++17/20)
- Experience with libraries such as Eigen, KDL, or Pinocchio
- Experience with motion planning libraries like OMPL, MoveIt, or TrajOpt
- Practical experience implementing PID, Impedance Control, or Model Predictive Control (MPC) on real hardware
- Ability to work onsite 5 days/week in Milpitas, CA
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience tuning physics parameters in Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo
- Familiarity with optimization solvers like OSQP, Ipopt, or Ceres
