About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
  • Develop and implement personalised care plans reflecting individual needs and goals
  • Use communication methods and visual aids to help children express wishes and feelings
  • Work collaboratively with parents, schools, social workers, and other professionals
  • Encourage independence by supporting everyday life skills like meal preparation and personal hygiene
  • Plan and deliver meaningful activities tailored to children's abilities and interests
  • Participate in an on-call rota and work shifts including weekends and bank holidays

Requirements

  • Ability to supervise and manage groups of disabled children with emotional or behavioural difficulties
  • Ability to assess risk and monitor safeguarding arrangements
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in using communication aids
  • Compassionate and patient approach to high-quality care
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and co-workers
  • Ability to work flexibly including on-call rotas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in childcare
