About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 therapeutic care and supervision for up to four children and young people in a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive home environment.
  • Act as a positive role model by engaging children in purposeful activities that promote self-worth, social skills, and emotional growth.
  • Support family and social connections by facilitating visits and encouraging relationships with peers and important community members.
  • Deliver daily living support, including meal preparation, cleaning, transport, and maintaining household routines.
  • Respond to trauma-related needs and behaviors using empathy and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Follow individual care plans, maintain accurate records, and collaborate closely with the House Manager and support team.

Requirements

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Social and Community Services or significant experience in residential/therapeutic care.
  • Demonstrated experience providing care for children and young people with complex behaviors and trauma.
  • Proven ability to build professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people.
  • Knowledge of complex trauma and its impact on child behavior.
  • Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates.
  • A current and unrestricted driver’s licence.
  • Must reside within the Mid West Region to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
  • Experience in Children and Residential Experiences (CARE).
  • Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
