About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and synthesize novel battery cathode materials, including active materials and surface or bulk modifications
  • Perform material-level characterization and analysis to correlate structure, morphology, and properties with performance
  • Lead battery electrode formulation optimization and cell integration
  • Conduct battery cell performance evaluation, failure mode diagnosis, and root-cause analysis
  • Develop and execute technical work plans from concept through development and evaluation
  • Communicate research ideas, plans, and results effectively through presentations and written reports
  • Collaborate across functions and organizations to meet project objectives and manage stakeholder relationships

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 2+ years of post-doctorate relevant industry experience
  • Hands-on experience in battery material synthesis, processing, and electrochemical characterization techniques
  • Proficiency with chemical or materials characterization methods such as XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, or spectroscopy
  • Proven ability to design, execute, and document experiments for material development
  • Strong capability to analyze experimental data and link results to underlying mechanisms

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in battery cathode material development in industry or a national laboratory
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with battery material synthesis and scale-up, or cell fabrication and testing
  • Deep understanding of electrochemical reaction phenomena and degradation mechanisms in Li-ion or next-generation battery systems
