Senior Research Scientist

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day execution of multiple Smart Construction research projects, including planning, implementation, and technical oversight.
• Design, configure, deploy, and evaluate advanced sensing and data acquisition systems for smart construction research.
• Develop and apply AI-based methods for energy usage detection, structural condition assessment, and intelligent decision-making.
• Integrate sensing technologies, robotics, and computational methods to support laboratory experiments and field deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and research direction to postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research assistants.
• Report research progress and technical challenges to Prof. T.Y. Yang through regular meetings.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
• Minimum of one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated research experience in Smart Construction, Structural Health Monitoring, Artificial Intelligence, or Robotics.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience working with robotic systems, sensing systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition platforms.
• Proven ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems within multidisciplinary teams.
