About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to high-impact research advancing best practices in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suicide prevention
  • Build strong partnerships with community-controlled organisations, policymakers, clinicians, and national stakeholders
  • Produce high-quality publications, reports, presentations, and resources to influence national policy and practice
  • Mentor and supervise students and early-career researchers in the field of Indigenous mental health
  • Drive funding applications, ethics submissions, and project development to support long-term research goals

Requirements

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in public health, allied health, psychology, or a closely related field
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and well-established relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Demonstrated research expertise in Indigenous mental health, social and emotional wellbeing, or suicide prevention
  • Proven excellence in grant writing and a strong publication record
  • Strong communication, engagement, and organizational skills within multidisciplinary environments
