About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and plan novel research projects focused on digital mental health interventions, mental illness, and substance use.
- Integrate AI into the Minder App and design safety and privacy safeguards for Natural Language Processing (NLP) in chatbots.
- Create evidence-based e-intervention content and develop standards for digital mental health services.
- Supervise and mentor junior research staff, trainees, students, and volunteers to ensure high-quality research output.
- Serve as a technical advisor to internal and external collaborators regarding study design, data analysis, and security compliance.
- Write and edit scientific documents, including protocols, technical reports, and knowledge translation materials.
- Oversee project timelines, workplans, and administrative logistics, including liaison with UBC ethics and research offices.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of two years of related research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Strong scientific writing skills.
- Experience with e-mental health or digital health interventions.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience in research project coordination, management, and administration.
- Experience with social media, web development, and NLP integration.
- Applied and academic knowledge of mental health and addictions clinical research.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under pressure.
- Strong ability to collaborate with diverse partners across healthcare, academia, and the NGO sector.
