About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide site-wide strategic reliability leadership and governance for the Scotford Refinery to drive high reliability and asset availability.
- Develop and steward reliability and availability strategies, including multi-year roadmaps and decision criteria for investments.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Asset Leadership Team (ALT) to shape long-term asset improvement plans.
- Integrate engineering, operations, and maintenance to deliver reliability as a system outcome and embed High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles.
- Own governance of critical reliability performance controls, including unplanned downtime and operational availability reporting.
- Diagnose and solve complex, non-routine technical problems and provide authoritative recommendations.
- Lead the reliability discipline improvement plan and mentor/coach the reliability community.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of industry experience in asset-intensive environments (operations, maintenance, engineering, or reliability).
- Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
- Proven ability to deliver long-term reliability improvements using risk-based asset care strategies and systems thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence across different organizational boundaries and disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Reliability.
- Knowledge of RCM, FMEA, Reliability Modelling, Lean Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to hold or achieve MRTA Technical Authority Level 3 (TA3).
