About the role
Responsibilities
- Execute public sector regulatory efforts by aligning regulatory pathways with government building codes and standards
- Build and maintain relationships with federal technical groups including USACE, NAVFAC, and AFCEC
- Support business development through technical proposals, presentations, and demonstrations
- Serve as the primary regulatory contact for government projects and federal agencies
- Lead regulatory acceptance processes to incorporate technology into government building standards like the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
- Coordinate regulatory testing and technology validation efforts for federal market access
- Conduct federal code research and analysis to identify regulatory requirements and barriers
- Collaborate with internal technical teams to integrate federal requirements into product development
- Support development of quality control guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance
- Assist in influencing federal building codes and participating in technical committees
- Establish scalable regulatory processes and security protocols for federal contracting
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical field
- 6+ years of professional experience in structural engineering, construction, or regulatory affairs
- Expertise in building code compliance (UFC, IBC, IRC, ACI, ASCE, AISC, NDS, and TMS)
- Experience navigating federal regulatory approval processes with government agencies
- Strong technical knowledge of structural systems, concrete, and masonry construction
- Experience with DoD organizations or military construction projects
- Understanding of structural testing methodologies and technical validation reporting
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel regularly to government facilities and military installations
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one within 6 months
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain one within 12 months
- Graduate degree in structural engineering or construction management
- Established relationships with USACE or military service branches
- Experience with UFC code development or government technical committees
- Familiarity with 3D printing, additive manufacturing, or robotics in construction
- Experience with construction QA/QC programs for government projects
