Senior Registrar in Emergency Medicine

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients in the Emergency Department
• Work flexibly across majors, minors, resus, and rapid assessment zones
• Support and supervise junior clinicians (FY/CT levels) and Advanced Care Practitioners
• Participate in clinical decision-making, patient flow coordination, and specialty referrals
• Contribute to departmental teaching, audit, and quality improvement projects
• Ensure safe handover and effective communication across shifts
• Uphold Trust values regarding patient safety, dignity, and clinical excellence

Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise
• Minimum 6–12 months NHS experience in Emergency Medicine at Registrar/Middle Grade level
• Competence in managing resuscitation cases, acute medical, and trauma patients
• Current or recently expired ALS, ATLS, or APLS certification
• Strong communication and leadership skills under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

• MRCP, MRCEM, or equivalent
