Senior Recovery Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead recovery activities for critical IT programmes and projects experiencing delivery, budget, or governance challenges.
• Perform rapid project health assessments to identify root causes of failure using Early Warning Indicator (EWI) frameworks.
• Develop and execute comprehensive recovery plans utilizing defined playbooks, risk mitigation strategies, and governance controls.
• Leverage AI-assisted analysis techniques to identify delivery patterns, emerging risks, and dependency failures.
• Drive prioritization and decision-making across business and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment with business outcomes.
• Define and embed fit-for-purpose recovery governance, including recovery boards, escalation paths, and executive reporting.
• Build credibility and confidence with senior executives and sponsors through transparent and accurate reporting.
• Coach and mentor programme managers and delivery teams to foster a culture of accountability and excellence.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in programme and project delivery within IT and digital transformation environments.
• Proven track record of recovering complex, high-risk, or failing projects (e.g., ERP, Cloud, or Cybersecurity).
• Expertise in various delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid models.
• Degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or MSP.
• Strong experience operating at executive and board stakeholder levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Agile certifications such as SAFe, Scrum, or AgilePM.
• ITIL certification.
• Change management qualifications (e.g., Prosci, APMG).
• Experience applying AI-enabled tooling to programme assurance or delivery forecasting.
