Senior R&D Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Leader for New Product Development Projects from initiation through production implementation
• Execute New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering work for assigned projects
• Collaborate with Senior and Lead Engineers to write detailed engineering specifications and develop concept drawings
• Coordinate with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) to define product evaluation and certification scope
• Lead the creation of detailed design drawings, 3D models, and bills of material for prototype equipment
• Develop and document test plans for temperature rise, dielectric, short-circuit, mechanical endurance, and seismic tests
• Support testing processes at in-house and third-party laboratories with up to 20% travel
• Characterize electrical, thermal, and mechanical performance through testing and simulation
• Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) concepts in collaboration with manufacturing engineering
• Conduct failure analyses of existing products to identify continuous improvement opportunities

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience designing low and/or medium voltage power distribution equipment
• BSME or equivalent professional experience
• Experience with NRTL (UL, CSA, etc.) evaluation, testing, and certification processes
• Knowledge of electrical equipment standards such as UL 891, 1558, 508A, or IEEE C37.20
• Strong technical writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling
• Solid grasp of three-phase electric power concepts, power distribution systems, and protection strategies
