About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform engineering design tasks for standard bridges, walls, substructures, foundations, and other transportation structures.
- Coordinate with CADD teams to develop plans, specifications, and estimates for preliminary and final designs.
- Mentor and lead junior engineers, including reviewing and checking their design work.
- Identify technical requirements and implement engineering principles to develop innovative solutions.
- Apply appropriate design standards and codes to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Participate in technical meetings and coordinate with clients, partners, and other disciplines.
- Develop technical differentiators and schemes for key project pursuits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
- Experience working with Class I railroads, shortlines, industrial, or transit clients.
- Proficiency in bridge engineering calculations, structural detailing, and load rating.
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel as required by the business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Design-Build or other alternative project delivery methods.
- Experience with seismic design and analysis.
- Proficiency with engineering design software such as CSiBridge, MIDAS, or PGSuper.
