Senior Quant Data Engineer

About the Company

BestEx Research is a U.S.-based financial technology and research firm specializing in sophisticated execution algorithms and transaction cost modeling tools. Their cloud-based Algo Management System (AMS) provides an end-to-end algorithmic trading solution for equities, futures, and foreign exchange.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-throughput data pipelines using Python, R, and PostgreSQL
• Build and manage robust, scheduled data workflows using tools like Airflow or Dagster
• Monitor pipeline health, debug data discrepancies, and implement automated data-quality checks
• Build and maintain REST API-based applications to serve analytics and performance metrics
• Partner with Senior Quants and Product Managers to translate TCA research into production-grade features

Requirements

• BTech/MTech in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related quantitative field
• Expert proficiency in Python (Numpy, Pandas, Polars, Multiprocessing)
• Advanced PostgreSQL skills including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with pipeline orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Strong foundation in applied statistics and hypothesis testing
• Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building REST APIs using FastAPI or Django
• Exposure to C++ or low-latency environment concepts
• Familiarity with R for research and visualization
• Prior experience in fintech, electronic trading, or data-heavy research environments
• Exposure to Machine Learning or AI
