About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ground fluid systems, including architecture, mechanical design, build, and operations for spacecraft programs and test stands.
- Lead propellant loading campaigns across multiple sites, establishing high standards for safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Define and implement propellant handling processes and technical standards from the ground up.
- Drive the ground fluids roadmap by identifying capability gaps and prioritizing technical investments.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and serve as the primary technical reviewer for the team.
- Act as the technical authority in cross-functional reviews, launch site coordination, and partner discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in propulsion fluid system definition, design, build, and test for spacecraft or launch vehicles.
- Deep understanding of fluid system components including pressurized hardware, tubing, fittings, seals, valves, and instrumentation.
- Proven experience authoring and executing operational procedures for ground test or flight campaigns.
- Proficiency in authoring and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Proficiency with CAD and product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
- Must be a US Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) as defined by ITAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in propulsion fluid systems for spacecraft or rockets.
- Experience working with hypergolic, cryogenic, or other specialized spacecraft propellants.
- Experience with test or launch site fluid systems operations and coordination with range safety personnel.
- Prior experience leading a technical team or sub-discipline.
- Experience developing and enforcing engineering standards or design guidelines.
