About the role
Responsibilities
- Analyze steady-state engine performance and detailed thermodynamic cycle data
- Assess engine operation across various conditions and certify operating characteristics in compliance with FAA & EASA regulations
- Communicate engine performance impacts on airplane subsystems, including in-flight thrust calculations
- Collaborate with cross-functional disciplines such as Aero, Environmental Controls, and Mechanical/Hydraulic teams
- Conduct data analysis and risk assessments for flight tests to support planning and performance evaluations
- Coordinate with engine suppliers on engine/airplane performance throughout the product lifecycle
- Support product improvement initiatives and contribute to certification documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
- 3+ years of experience in propulsion systems
- 2+ years of experience working on aircraft ground and/or flight test
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, or C#
Preferred Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of gas turbine engine operation and thermodynamics
- Experience with engine performance modeling tools and methods, including NPSS
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix computing systems and shell scripting
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for engine and airplane certification (e.g., 14 CFR Part 25, Part 33)
- Experience with integrated airplane simulation and engine model development
- Advanced knowledge of engine operability, icing, and transient analysis
