About the role
Responsibilities
- Direct the entire pre-construction lifecycle from conceptual design to onsite construction commencement
- Develop comprehensive project schedules, multi-million dollar budgets, and detailed risk assessments
- Lead collaboration between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to optimize designs
- Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies to validate infrastructure readiness
- Manage complex bid packages, competitive bidding processes, and contractor proposal analysis
- Negotiate high-value contracts and manage long-term vendor relationships
- Navigate the permitting process and ensure compliance with building codes and environmental standards
- Partner with onsite construction teams to ensure seamless knowledge and documentation handoff
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of dedicated pre-construction management experience in large-scale, complex projects
- Deep technical understanding of construction processes, materials, and mission-critical build lifecycles
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple high-priority workstreams
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for interacting with C-suite executives and local officials
- Expert-level command of construction management software and scheduling tools like P6 or MS Project
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of large scale development experience in data centers, oil & gas, or hospital industries
- 10+ years of experience specifically within the hyperscale data center or high-tech infrastructure market
- PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent professional construction certification
- Experience utilizing BIM (Building Information Modeling) for clash detection
- Background in sustainable construction practices or renewable energy integration
