About the role
Responsibilities
- Independently determine project scope, develop investigation plans, and establish specifications for cost, time, and sample requirements.
- Communicate with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures, negotiate completion dates, and resolve complex concerns.
- Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing manufacturer information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
- Coordinate complex laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions for technicians.
- Develop UL requirements for testing products beyond existing standards and create special test methods or equipment.
- Direct and review the work of assigned staff and provide training to office, field, and laboratory personnel.
- Represent UL on technical committees and industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
Requirements
- University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
- Eight years of directly related work experience.
- Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary within the appropriate engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of conformity standards used in your area of expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts to complex, new, or unusual products.

- Competitive salary range of $130,000 - $172,000 based on experience and location.
