Senior Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own execution of heavy fabrication and steel structures scopes across suppliers, internal stakeholders, and build sites
• Convert design intent into executable work via RFQs, technical bid reviews, and fabrication kickoff
• Build and maintain detailed execution plans covering procurement, fabrication, inspection, and installation
• Coordinate with design, supply chain, quality, and construction teams to maintain critical path progress
• Drive vendor engagement including schedule tracking, technical clarification, and risk recovery planning
• Develop fabrication work packages, inspection documentation, and turnover packages
• Support fabrication and installation planning with travel up to 50% as needed
• Ensure work meets safety, quality, cost, and schedule standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or construction engineering
• 5+ years of experience in project engineering, fabrication, or industrial construction
• Experience managing complex vendor-built scopes involving welded assemblies or structural steel
• Working knowledge of welding, fabrication, and manufacturing documentation
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, or ASME B31.3 standards
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection plans
• Willingness to travel up to 50% between San Leandro, CA, Albuquerque, NM, and vendor locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fusion, aerospace, energy, or heavy industrial hardware environments
• Experience owning supplier scopes from RFQ through field installation
• Familiarity with field fit-up, weld inspection, and installation sequencing
• Hands-on familiarity with welding and construction methods
• Experience with large stainless steel structures, vacuum hardware, or pressure systems
