Senior Project Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage revenue recognition for products, software, and services in compliance with ASC 606
• Review contract terms and set up project codes, revenue methods, and billing formulas in Oracle
• Prepare detailed financial reports, including cost analysis, variance analysis, and profitability assessments
• Prepare and review client invoices
• Manage communications with project managers and clients regarding financial matters
• Prepare and post journal entries related to project costs, revenues, and adjustments
• Assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Support the Revenue Manager with ad hoc reporting and handle complex project assignments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in engineering consulting, technology, or retail
• Strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel to Chicago, IL up to 1-2 times per year as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a team leadership role
• Experience working with Oracle accounting systems
• Background in inventory or software accounting
