About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a portfolio of concurrent research programs involving multiple principal investigators and funding mechanisms.
- Manage NIH grant administration, including preparing RPPRs, non-competing renewals, and monitoring budgets and compliance.
- Provide scientific oversight for programs involving mouse genetics, including transgenic, knock-in, and knock-out models.
- Write and edit grant applications, scientific summaries, white papers, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Develop and maintain program management tools such as project plans, milestone trackers, and risk registers.
- Ensure all research activities comply with IACUC protocols, institutional policies, and NIH guidelines.
- Facilitate cross-functional team meetings and coordinate with external scientific collaborators and agency contacts.
Requirements
- Master's Degree required (PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or related field strongly preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a research environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in program management or research administration.
- Demonstrated expertise in mouse genetics and the design/interpretation of genetic models.
- Direct experience with NIH grant mechanisms and administration.
- Proven proficiency in scientific and technical writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in therapeutic development, drug discovery, or translational research.
- Familiarity with NIH eRA Commons, Grants.gov, and related submission platforms.
- Experience managing multi-site or consortium grants (e.g., P01, U54, U19).
- Knowledge of GLP/GCP principles and preclinical regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency with project management software such as Smartsheet, Asana, or MS Project.
