Senior Program Manager, Scientist

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a portfolio of concurrent research programs involving multiple principal investigators and funding mechanisms.
• Manage NIH grant administration, including preparing RPPRs, non-competing renewals, and monitoring budgets and compliance.
• Provide scientific oversight for programs involving mouse genetics, including transgenic, knock-in, and knock-out models.
• Write and edit grant applications, scientific summaries, white papers, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
• Develop and maintain program management tools such as project plans, milestone trackers, and risk registers.
• Ensure all research activities comply with IACUC protocols, institutional policies, and NIH guidelines.
• Facilitate cross-functional team meetings and coordinate with external scientific collaborators and agency contacts.

Requirements

• Master's Degree required (PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or related field strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a research environment.
• At least 2 years of experience in program management or research administration.
• Demonstrated expertise in mouse genetics and the design/interpretation of genetic models.
• Direct experience with NIH grant mechanisms and administration.
• Proven proficiency in scientific and technical writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in therapeutic development, drug discovery, or translational research.
• Familiarity with NIH eRA Commons, Grants.gov, and related submission platforms.
• Experience managing multi-site or consortium grants (e.g., P01, U54, U19).
• Knowledge of GLP/GCP principles and preclinical regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency with project management software such as Smartsheet, Asana, or MS Project.
