About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform quality functions including nonconformance resolution, first article inspection, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Collaborate with design engineering to develop standards for part drawings, GD&T, and inspection plans for electro-mechanical assemblies
- Write and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) command media to govern hardware design, build, and test processes
- Perform process validation for new manufacturing processes in collaboration with production engineering
- Monitor key quality metrics such as product yield and in-process inspection results to identify trends
- Support process improvements to enhance manufacturability, reduce defects, and streamline production flow
- Contribute to the definition and enforcement of factory standards including ESD handling and tool calibration
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline
- 6+ years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role (3+ years with an MS/PhD)
- Experience with inspection techniques, electronics troubleshooting, and basic GD&T principles
- Experience with CAD, PLM, or ERP systems (e.g., Solidworks, Altium, Arena)
- Basic proficiency in Python or SQL for data analysis
- Demonstrated application of process validation and control methods such as PFMEA, DOE, and SPC
- Familiarity with root cause analysis tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Pareto
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status required
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of spaceflight hardware design, standards, and manufacturing limitations
- Demonstrated high-impact project ownership and deployment of Quality systems
- Experience leading production containments for supplier or in-house manufacturing defects
- Strong SQL and Python skills for managing large datasets and creating automated dashboards
