Senior Product Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own product work for key areas of Echobox, from identifying opportunities through launch and iteration
• Develop a deep understanding of publishers, their workflows, and the market
• Help adopt effective AI-enabled workflows across discovery, design, development, QA, and delivery
• Build the context, documentation, tooling, and processes that make AI tools reliable and useful across teams
• Work closely with Engineering and Design to shape solutions and manage trade-offs
• Contribute directly to technical implementations
• Write clear product requirements and ensure alignment on goals and rationale

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with the ability to contribute to technical implementations
• Strong product judgment and the ability to connect user needs with technical constraints
• Experience working in the media and journalism sector
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and AI-assisted workflows
• Understanding of how AI tools use codebase context to produce reliable outputs
• Ability to bring structure and clarity to complex or ambiguous problems
• Fluent written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Product Engineer, technical Product Manager, or AI Builder
• Background in publishing, media, or newsroom-related products
• Experience implementing team workflows with tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot
• Experience improving internal tooling, developer workflows, or documentation systems
• Strong user research instincts and experience working with cross-functional teams
