Senior Product Engineer

The Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) leverages technology to drive opportunity, improve public safety, and help government run better across New York City. The Public Interest Technology (PIT) Crew builds the technology, products, and services needed to deliver a more affordable New York City.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship applications from concept to launch across the stack
• Move through rapid prototyping, MVP iteration, and public launch
• Build integrations with government data sources, modern APIs, and legacy systems
• Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers on day-to-day product decisions
• Coordinate with the wider OTI team on hosting, performance, accessibility, and security
• Translate complex eligibility rules and regulations into accurate product logic
• Write technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture notes
• Contribute to reusable patterns, components, and infrastructure
• Shape engineering culture through code review and mentorship

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or related field with 6 years of experience in enterprise/solutions architecture or IT infrastructure
• OR Baccalaureate degree with 10 years of related experience
• OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with full-stack development and rapid prototyping
• Ability to work in a 24/7 operation including potential weekends or nights
