Senior Procurement Buyer

Responsibilities

• Utilize procurement processes to support engineering IRAD projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and technical requirements
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate long-term strategic agreements, and secure materials and services that meet quality and cost objectives
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to understand project needs and provide procurement solutions that support innovation
• Integrate into the IRAD IPT to ensure compliance with program and department standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or supply chain
• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably supporting engineering or R&D projects
• Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation within a technical environment
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools
• Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
• U.S. person status required (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected status)

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Engineering
• Experience managing procurement specifically for IRAD or R&D projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in cross-functional teams
