Senior Process & Mechanical Designer

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert in process and mechanical system design for skid-based and modular systems
• Drive designs from concept through release, including P&IDs, equipment layouts, and piping drawings
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering leads to ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and performance goals
• Partner with mechanical, structural, electrical, controls, fabrication, and field service teams
• Mentor designers and engineers at all levels and establish design standards
• Lead initiatives to enhance design processes, tools, and workflows

Requirements

• 10+ years in process and/or mechanical design within industrial or engineering services environments
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D and SolidWorks
• Experience with design analysis and simulation
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
• Experience with technical requirements documentation and project cost estimating
• AS/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or equivalent experience
• Ability to work on-site in Rochester, NY or Rush, NY with occasional travel (<25%)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing design for industrial machinery and/or automation systems
• Knowledge of pressure vessel design, advanced piping layouts, and pipe stress/frame analysis (Caesar II, SolidWorks FEA, ANSYS)
• Familiarity with ISO9001, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with 3D point clouds
