About the role
Responsibilities
- Own material handling, transfer, and dosing as unit operations across the electrolyte process
- Serve as the technical authority for powder conveyance on the team
- Troubleshoot and resolve powder transfer and dosing issues such as clogging or inconsistent transfer
- Conduct audits of material handling systems to assess design adequacy and equipment sizing
- Lead improvement projects including testing plans and vendor coordination
- Diagnose and improve dosing accuracy and load cell calibration
- Mitigate electrostatic charging through grounding, bonding, and velocity control
- Apply powder characterization and rheology to optimize transfer and dosing
- Lead process safety activities including PHA, MOC, and combustible dust hazard management
- Define critical process parameters using SCADA and statistical tools
- Develop SOPs and work instructions for transfer and dosing operations
- Consult on large-scale capital and site scale-up projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of process engineering experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, cement, advanced materials, or battery manufacturing
- Hands-on expertise with pneumatic and vacuum powder conveying systems
- Experience troubleshooting powder flow problems like clogging, bridging, and fluidization
- Experience with powder dosing, feeding, and load cell troubleshooting
- Strong process safety background including PHA and PSM
- Proficiency with design of experiments, root cause analysis, and PFMEA
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or Python
- Experience with combustible dust hazards and NFPA standards
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and electrical area classification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bulk solids discharge and reintroduction (drums, IBCs)
- Knowledge of powder characterization and rheology
- Understanding of electrostatic charge buildup and mitigation
- Experience in hazardous electrically classified areas (C1D2 or C1D1)
- Experience scaling powder processes from lab/pilot to production
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools
