Senior Privacy Counsel

Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on global privacy laws and regulations
• Monitor emerging developments in privacy and AI/ML laws
• Develop the company’s Privacy program, including policies and procedures
• Lead the company’s AI framework and governance program
• Provide privacy legal advice to Product and Engineering teams
• Develop and maintain form agreements such as DPAs and BAAs
• Advise the Commercial Legal team on transactions involving biometrics and AI/ML
• Oversee program auditing for compliance and global harmonization
• Provide advice and counsel regarding privacy incidents and regulatory inquiries

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• 8+ years of relevant privacy experience
• 4+ years of in-house counsel experience at a B2B technology company
• Expertise in data privacy, biometrics, and AI/ML regulations
• Experience advising multinational, fast-growing global companies
• Experience in global transactions involving data sharing and privacy law
• Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical partners
• Ability to drive alignment in ambiguous spaces
• Must be willing to commute 5 days in office in Austin, TX
