Senior Principal Transmissions Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams to address technical issues and integrate gearbox designs for commercial and military engine programs.
• Perform comprehensive design and analysis on various gear types (spur, helical, bevel, and spiral bevel) using FEA and automated tools.
• Spearhead root cause investigation (RRCA) teams and deliver findings to engineering leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct peer reviews to accelerate team proficiency.
• Manage and integrate complex technical requirements from external suppliers.
• Lead full-lifecycle test programs, including rig development, test plan creation, and data post-processing.
• Advance gear manufacturing readiness and improve analytical tools and training materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 years of gear design and analysis experience (or 7 years with an Advanced degree).
• At least 3 years of direct experience working with complex mechanical systems hardware.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• An active U.S. Security Clearance.
• Proficiency in Gleason Works software and Siemens NX.
• Exceptional communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
