About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the CAMINO Advanced Manufacturing Project portfolio by managing multidisciplinary research projects and bridging national security missions with manufacturing strategy
- Establish and manage a portfolio of projects, including direct-funded research and indirect-funded demonstrator work
- Coordinate with CAMINO Management and Thrust Leads to identify mission demand signals and cultivate a community of principal investigators
- Act as a technical point of contact for CAMINO and DREA2M inquiries
- Manage project milestones, status updates, and management reporting
- Advise on experimental plans, technical approaches, and equipment investments
- Synthesize data and findings into clear written and verbal reports for stakeholders and leadership
- Liaise with staff, researchers, and partners across Sandia, universities, and industry
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering)
- Five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
- Strong technical acumen and exceptional communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related field
- Experience with mechanical engineering and product realization in the NNSA complex
- Experience in project ownership and team leadership within a laboratory environment
- Expertise in Advanced Manufacturing, including additive manufacturing, digital engineering, automation, or artificial intelligence
- Active DOE Q Clearance
