About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as a flammability engineering expert and thought leader to ensure product compliance with FAA, EASA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve certification documents under the Partnership for Safety Plan (PSP) and aircraft OEM delegation authority.
  • Provide technical leadership and training to less experienced engineers regarding flammability regulations and testing.
  • Analyze and develop engineering specifications for product design and operation to ensure compliance with 14CFR/CS 25.853.
  • Recommend changes in rules, policies, and standards to improve product design and meet customer requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of new tools, analytical methods, and testing processes to improve certification efficiency.
  • Participate in industry committees to help develop new regulations and guidance materials for aircraft structural certification.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • STEM degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 7+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience as a flammability DER, ODA UM, or PSP staff member (or working under PSP authority).
  • Deep working knowledge of FAA and EASA rules, regulations, and guidance materials related to aircraft seat certification and interiors.
  • Experience with TC, STC, PMA, or TSO certification processes.
  • Extensive experience with materials and processes commonly used in aircraft interior design.
