Senior Principal Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for the process discipline within the UK water/wastewater treatment design team
• Act as process discipline lead or senior technical authority on complex treatment projects
• Set and maintain process design standards, modelling approaches, and quality expectations
• Lead and assure complex process deliverables, treatment strategies, and process models
• Drive integrated coordination across multidisciplinary teams including Mechanical, Civil, and MEP
• Lead senior client engagement, technical workshops, and design reviews
• Support project directors with technical risk, scope, resourcing, and budget management
• Build and develop the process sub-team through recruitment and mentoring

Requirements

• BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status (e.g., IChemE)
• 10–12+ years of relevant process design experience
• Background in water, wastewater, and/or biosolids/sludge treatment design
• Expertise in treatment process design, mass balance, PFDs, and P&IDs
• Proficiency with process modelling packages such as BioWin, SUMO, or Dynamizu
• Strong understanding of UK regulated water sector, CDM 2015, and process safety
• Proven experience in people development and technical coaching

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a process discipline lead or technical director in a consultancy or water company
• Strong UK water sector client network and bid leadership experience
• Advanced experience with dynamic simulation and model calibration
• Experience in digital treatment design, nutrient removal, or water reuse
