Senior Principal Engineering Leader, Legacy Transformation

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver target platform architecture for API gateways, service mesh, developer platforms, and internal engineering standards.
• Lead the decomposition of monolithic legacy platforms into bounded microservices with clear ownership models and data contracts.
• Design and govern zero-downtime migration patterns for critical payment, account, and transaction services.
• Establish technical standards for Java and Go services, Kubernetes, Envoy, Istio, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage and develop senior engineering talent, including Staff and Senior engineers, through technical coaching and design reviews.
• Drive consistent execution across transformation programs to meet architecture, reliability, and operational objectives.

Requirements

• 13+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or architecture within regulated fintech or banking environments.
• 5+ years of experience leading large-scale modernization programs and 5+ years of team management experience.
• 10+ years of experience designing distributed systems using Java, Go, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• 8+ years of experience designing reliable financial systems with controls for settlement, ledger consistency, and idempotency.
• 5+ years of experience implementing engineering controls aligned with PCI-DSS, SOC, or GDPR.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with bounded context design and saga-based workflow patterns for high-risk transactional services.
• Proven track record of building shared internal developer platforms adopted across multiple product teams.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
