Senior Principal Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-team projects and set technical visions for your team
• Architect systems within your team's domain and solve complex business problems
• Own multiple areas of the codebase or services
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to benefit the domain
• Mentor IC7 and IC8 engineers on technical knowledge and execution quality
• Maintain high technical output including regular pull requests and comprehensive code reviews
• Author technical specifications and RFCs to demonstrate leadership
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to drive progress

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
• 6-10 years of hands-on data engineering experience in large-scale, high-volume environments
• Expert proficiency in SQL or Python, with strong understanding of the other
• Extensive experience with Snowflake architecture, optimization, and performance tuning
• Experience building Kimball dimensional data warehouses and star schema architectures
• Strong AWS cloud infrastructure experience focused on data operations
• Production experience with DBT or SQL Mesh
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitFlow or trunk-based development
• Knowledge of data compliance requirements like GDPR and PCI-DSS

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with Apache Iceberg and Data Lakehouse architectures
• Experience with data warehouse cost optimization
• Background in subscription business models (LTV, churn prediction, cohort analysis)
• Experience in high-volume industries such as cybersecurity, ad-tech, or fintech
