About the role

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design high-power converters/inverters (>10 kW) for aerospace electrical and motion control products
  • Select and apply Si, SiC, and/or GaN power devices and design gate-drive, controller, and magnetic components
  • Design topologies and the power stage including DC bus, precharge/discharge, and filtering
  • Drive thermal design in collaboration with mechanical engineering for heatsinks and cooling systems
  • Own EMI/EMC strategy for aerospace environments including grounding, shielding, and filter design
  • Lead schematic capture and review PCB layout for low-inductance, high-current/high-voltage design
  • Plan and execute prototype bring-up and high-power lab testing with root-cause analysis
  • Define verification plans and support DFM/DFT as designs transition to manufacturing

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in power electronics design and product development
  • Strong experience with power converter/inverter topologies, architecture, and device selection
  • Expertise in high-voltage, high-current PCB/layout practices
  • Hands-on experience with high-power hardware bring-up and debugging using oscilloscopes and power analyzers
  • Ability to take designs from concept through prototype and production readiness
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated work on high-power systems (>10 kW)
  • Aerospace experience with EMI/EMC test workflows and qualification mindsets
  • Motor drive experience including three-phase inverters for BLDC/PMSM
  • High-voltage design experience (200-800 VDC class)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461/DO-160 standard specs
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools like LTspice, PLECS, or Simulink
  • Proficiency with PCB CAD and layout tools
