About the role

About the Company

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power for hospitals, data centers, and remote sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design power electronic systems to convert AC and DC power sources into stable grid compatible voltages and frequencies
  • Take ownership and configure active rectifiers, inverters, and dc/dc converters
  • Apply EMI/EMC strategies to system design, including line filters, capacitors, grounding, and isolation
  • Utilize expertise in design and validation of gate drivers, power stages, magnetics, and controls
  • Conduct modeling and detailed simulation of inverters
  • Perform circuit formal analysis, such as de-rating and worst-case circuit analysis
  • Optimize loss, efficiency, and conduct thermal analysis of the inverter

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power electronics
  • 6+ years of design experience in high voltage and high-power electronics
  • Expertise in high voltage power semiconductor selection (Si/SiC/GaN, IGBT, Diodes, MOSFETs)
  • Strong experience in high voltage (HV) power electronics design (+800V)
  • Proficiency with power electronics tools such as PLECS, PSCAD, dSPICE, PSIM, or Simplorer
  • Expertise in EMI/EMC filter design
  • Solid understanding of capacitor and super-capacitor design and selection
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of design experience in high voltage and high-power electronics
  • Experience in magnetics design including transformers and inductors
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (IEC 61508) and fault-tolerant design
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or nuclear applications
  • Demonstrated experience in embedded programming with C/C++
