About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, simulate, and validate power electronics circuits, magnetic components, and control strategies for medium voltage converter systems
  • Define technical requirements and specifications for power electronic converter systems and other electrical designs
  • Develop test methods to qualify designs from concept through final testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on procurement contracts, vendor coordination, and critical project milestones
  • Document design specifications, simulations, and test results into comprehensive engineering reports

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years of experience with a Master’s degree
  • Proven track record in the design and development of power electronics-based electrical systems
  • Deep knowledge of inverter circuit topologies and their respective benefits and limitations
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation using tools such as PLECS, PSPICE, or MATLAB
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor devices (IGBT, MOSFET) and magnetic components (transformers, inductors)
  • Experience with high power electrical equipment exceeding 10MW
  • Hands-on laboratory testing experience using oscilloscopes and other measurement equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in an industrial facility environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics
  • Experience applying compliance standards (IEC, UL, CSA, NEC) to electrical designs
  • Experience with root cause analysis and field containment actions
  • Experience scaling independent systems to larger systems to meet higher power requirements
